Your vehicle passport has to outlive the website it sits on
From 29 November 2026 every new M1 and N1 type needs an Environmental Vehicle Passport, issued by the manufacturer for each vehicle (Reg. (EU) 2024/1257, Art. 7(4) and Art. 21). Its data must then stay accessible for at least twenty years after manufacture (Implementing Reg. (EU) 2025/1707, Art. 17(4)). VINPassport anchors that record on a public ledger, so anyone can check it is the one you issued, without relying on us.
The content is yours. The delivery and the twenty years are ours.
- The certificate of conformity and the Appendix 1 values you already hold
- The type approval
- Your brand on the page a buyer opens
- A vehicle page that opens from the QR code with nothing to type, no app and no registration (Annex V 4.2.2, 4.2.3)
- A record a third party can check was not edited after issue, which speaks to the anti-tampering duty in Art. 4(7)(j)
- Commitments on a public ledger rather than on our servers, so the record stays checkable whether or not VINPassport is still around
Where it stands today
VINPassport runs on Midnight's preprod test network. It has not been assessed by a technical service or an approval authority, and we do not describe it as compliant. A pilot on one vehicle type is how that changes, and this form is how a pilot starts. The full reading of the law behind it is on the regulation page.
From application to pilot
- 01You applyWho you are, which vehicle types are coming, and what you need. A few minutes.
- 02We reply by emailA person reads every application. Nothing is automated beyond the delivery.
- 03A twenty-minute callHow you meet Annex V point 4.2 and Article 17(4) today, and whether the twenty-year part is settled. Not a sales pitch.
- 04A pilot on one typeIf it fits, one vehicle type end to end on the test network with you, before anything goes near production.
Apply to onboard
Fields marked (optional) can be left blank. Everything else we need to reply. The button opens your own email app with the application written out and addressed to info@passport.vin, and you send it from there. How we handle it is set out below the form.
Thank you. It has been delivered to our inbox, and we will reply to the email address you gave.
What happens to what you send
Who receives it. VINPassport is responsible for your details. Write to info@passport.vin about anything on this page.
What and why. Only what you type into the form, used only to reply to your application and, if you want one, to arrange a call or a pilot. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not sell or share your details.
On what basis. Your consent, given by ticking the box, which you can withdraw at any time by writing to us (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) and 7(3); POPIA s11(1)(a) and 11(2)(b)).
How it reaches us. This form sends nothing itself. It writes your application into an email in your own mail app, addressed to info@passport.vin, and you send it. No form service sits in between.
How long. We delete an application within twelve months of our last exchange if it does not lead to an agreement, or sooner if you ask.
Your rights. You can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold (GDPR Arts. 15 to 17; POPIA ss23 and 24), and complain to your data protection authority or, in South Africa, the Information Regulator. This notice is given under GDPR Art. 13 and POPIA s18.
